THERAPY

I believe that developing a strong relationship  is essential to success in therapy sessions. To maintain  your child's attention and stimulate his/her language I use a variety of different therapy approaches. I use technology including Zoom and iPad therapy apps. To capture your younger child's imagination and engage them fully in the therapy I use games, multisensory approaches such as bubbles, songs, slime and glitter. Storytelling, drama, puppets and Lego ensure my therapy sessions are fun and engaging for your child. I may also follow their lead in terms of communication and interaction to elicit the optimum from each child.
When working with older students I use a range of activities, online resources and games to maintain their attention and interest.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Individual therapy sessions target specific areas of difficulty for the child and may last between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on the age and needs of the child. The number of sessions and length of the sessions I recommend will depend on the aims. Individual therapy sessions are carried out at the child's school or nursery. This allows staff to observe the therapy tasks and techniques, enabling carryover of activities between sessions and further progress to be gained. I email parents /caregivers after every session with feedback and may leave or send 'homework' if appropriate.
